Hi
My name is Bhumi, and I like Yoga.
I am a Faerie Rainbow experienced person.
I have been really into bhakti yoga and mantra yoga
I have begun reading that Sastras of Pantanjali and
Isengars Light on Yoga.
I recently took an intensive instructors yoga class
and discovered that I have a lot more problems than
I originally thought. I have an imballanced ida/pingala/shushama.
I am a drama queen. I have issues that prevent good yoga.
I really want to let it all go and just to asanas.
I have such a hard time letting go of all of the pain that has
accumulated in my energy system, especially around my
family and past patterns that are harmful to me, and what
I have allready learned.
I'm trying
I'll never give Up
Love and Light
Bhumi

Re: intro
Thu, January 26, 2006 - 3:15 PMHey Bhumi,
Welcome to tribe & F.Y.I.
I think Bhakti & Mantra yoga are wonderful practices, but I couldn't live without Hatha (asana practice) yoga. For me working with the corporal body is the handle that I can grasp (literally) and the best way to access & address any imbalances or worries in the other layers of my existence.
If you continue reading Iyengar's "Light on Yoga", you'll learn many good techniques. But if you pick up his latest "Light on Life" (which I'm currently reading), you'll from his example that
(a) he had many problems, physical & otherwise, to deal with while attempting to progress with his yoga,
(b) his intense focus on exploring & perfecting his understanding of his body & the asana & pranyama practice yielded much health, happiness & peace of mind for him, and
(c) he wants more than anything else in the world for those interested in yoga to learn from his experience so they, too, can benefit.
You didn't say where you practice. Do you have a teacher/class that you attend? How does that work?
Peace -

Sat, January 28, 2006 - 8:43 AMThank you
From what I have learned, Bhakti Yoga is a place to start, and end. However,
one's path may vary, including many mantras, cleansing processes,
introductory yoga, intensive yoga....(I even learned that some of the basic
yoga positions are building blocks for further positions that come later)
jana yoga = knowledge
Bhakti Yoga= Service
Hatha Yoga = asansas
Raja Yoga = all three
When I first was led into the fish position, i marveled at how my lotus
position turned into a flapping tail...HA HA HA
I heard Hituris talking about the Corporal body, and
I havn't heard anything about it again until now. I am assuming
(speculating) that you are talking about the material body that
i borrowed from the earth to experience life in the school
of the mother, however I may be wrong....
I practice by myself, in my temple room.
I start by centering and practice of Pranayama
middle two fingers on one nostril and thumb on the other.
breathing in and our from each nostril Breathing oxygen
around my third eye, and breathing the breath out of my crown
Then I lead into asanas......
Love and Light

Re: intro
Wed, May 17, 2006 - 11:12 PMi wish you well on your path, bhumi, but wonder whether asana practice entirely on your own might not be a bit, well, difficult, possibly even dangerous. traditionally one studies with a guru, but at least a teacher or experienced fellow student would help a lot. speaking from my own experience, i have thought many times i understood a posture i had read about, only to find i was not doing it right at all when looked at by an experienced teacher.
you mention hitirus-- does that mean you're living in the zms area? i learned a good deal from him when i was beginning practice.
